Why visit Cebu?
Cebu is a highly urbanized city in the Philippines’ Visayas region. Often, it is the gateway to the province’s world-famous gems — diving in Malapascua, sardine run in Moalboal, canyoneering in Alegria, and snorkelling in Oslob.
If you have a day to spare, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to spend it here. Cebu City played a huge role in the country’s history. You can learn all about it with a visit to Magellan’s Cross and Fort San Pedro. Love trying good food? You will find the best lechon (the Philippines’ iconic roasted pig) in Cebu City!

Camiguin to Cebu by Flight
As much as we want to protect the environment by flying less, the flight really is the most convenient option when travelling from Camiguin to Cebu. It saves you a lot of time, and the total cost is not much more expensive than taking a ferry.
TIP: If you decide to travel by plane, please consider including a carbon compensation fee to reduce your impact on the environment.
Step 1: City Centre to Camiguin Airport by Tricycle
Camiguin Airport is located some 7 km north of the tourist centre in Mambajao. Most hotels offer free airport transfers.
But in case your hotel does not, you can hail a tricycle to take you to the airport. Fares start from 50 PHP ($0.80) for the trip that takes around 20 minutes.
Step 2: Camiguin to Cebu by Flight
CebGo offers one daily flight from Cebu to Camiguin. This flight departs at 12:45 and the journey takes about an hour.
Airfares from Cebu to Camiguin start from 1,900 PHP ($31.50), but you can sometimes find tickets for as low as 1,300 PHP ($21.50) if you book early.
Tip: Cebu Pacific, which operates Cebgo, has multiple “piso fare” sales annually. Keep an eye out for these promos so you can book cheap flights for this route!
Step 3: Cebu Airport to City Centre
Flights arrive at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, about 15 km away from Cebu City.
To get into the city, you can take either a bus or a taxi. Travel time is roughly an hour, depending on traffic. Bus tickets cost 50 PHP ($0.80), and taxi fares start from 500 PHP ($8.30).
Once you’re in Cebu City, it is easy to catch a bus heading to other popular spots, like Malapascua in the north, or Moalboal and Oslob in the south.
Camiguin to Cebu by Ferry
Taking the ferry from Camiguin to Cebu takes 9 to 11 hours, but it gives you the chance to make a side trip to the island of Bohol. Also, it’s a great alternative during peak season, when airfares are too expensive.
Just keep in mind that this option involves two ferry rides and one bus transfer.
Step 1: Camiguin to Bohol (Jagna Port) by Ferry
Super Shuttle Ferry operates one trip daily from Camiguin to Bohol. Travel time is around 4h 30m.
A one-way economy seat costs 965 PHP ($15.90). Seats are limited so it’s best to book your ticket in advance through 12Go.Asia.
Tickets are also available at the port, but if you plan to buy them there, try to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure.
All ferries depart from Balbagon Ferry Terminal and dock at Jagna Port.
Step 2: Bohol (Jagna Port) to Tagbilaran by Bus
From Jagna, you’ll need to travel 65 km east to reach Tagbilaran City. The cheapest way to do that is by bus. Buses are easy to find and run throughout the day, though they can be a bit slow because they make a lot of stops.
From Jagna Port, walk to the main highway then head towards the market just beside the port. You will find buses and shared minivans bound for Tagbilaran there.
Fares for an air-conditioned bus start from 150 PHP ($2.50). The journey from Jagna Port to Tagbilaran City takes about 2.5 hours.
You are to get off at Dao Bus Terminal in Tagbilaran city centre. From there, take a tricycle to Tagbilaran Port, some 4 km away. Tricycle fares start at 50 PHP ($0.80).
Step 3: Tagbilaran to Cebu by Ferry
From Tagbilaran Port, you can choose from three ferry companies to get to Cebu City.
OceanJet and Supercat run fastcrafts that get you to Cebu in just 2 hours. If you’re not in a rush and prefer a cheaper option, Lite Shipping operates slower car ferries that take about 4 hours to complete the same trip.
Ticket prices start from 945 PHP ($15.60) for the fastcrafts and 545 PHP ($9) for the car ferries.
You’ll also need to pay a separate port fee of 30 PHP ($0.50) at the terminal. If you’re checking in extra luggage (on top of the allowed weight), expect an additional charge of 100 PHP ($1.70).
You can buy your ticket at the port. But we recommend booking them online beforehand, especially during the busy season.
IMPORTANT: There are several ports in Bohol, but we recommend departing from Tagbilaran City Port. It’s the most convenient option when coming from Jagna.
Ferries from Bohol arrive at either Cebu Pier 1 or Pier 3. The piers are around 5 to 6 km from Cebu City centre. The easiest way to get into the city from either pier is by taxi. The ride takes around 20 minutes and costs about 150 PHP ($2.50).
You can also take the bus, but it takes the long way around. It can take up to an hour just to reach the city centre from Pier 1. Bus fares start from 50 PHP ($0.80).
If you haven’t visited Bohol yet, it’s definitely worth exploring the island first before heading to Cebu. For more transport options, check out our page on how to get from Bohol to Cebu.
